Puppies!

By March 15, 2013No Comments

Many of our guests at Angling Unlimited have met my Labrador retriever Jean at tent events. She likes to attend and catch food as it falls from above. She’s a wonderful dog – calm, fit, and smart. She had a litter of six puppies in the wee hours of Sunday morning: 3 males, 3 females. They are pure bred English Labradors – shorter legs, stout body, heavy head, and calm temperament. At three days the biggest is about 21 ounces, the smallest is 17 ounces. They are remarkably cute, fragile, and perfect. They divide their time between sleeping in a heap on each other and nursing. Jean is doing well and turning out to be a good mother with the occasional moments of impatience. It’s a tough job. One of the puppies will stay with our family and come to Sitka this summer. We’ve found homes for some, but not all. We’ll keep you posted on a regular basis regarding their progress. My son Gus will be shooting video which we’ll post, too. Stay tuned.
