Since our last report, our fleet has been fishing north more frequently. During the last week, we ran seven boats consistently and covered area from The Shark Hole to Shelikof Bay. Areas with the highest production have been Georgiana, Point Amelia, The Shark Hole and Shelikof Bay.

Captain Chuck just wrapped up fishing with Tiny and Roxanne Blanchard, Jim McLendon, and Joel Merzon. Tiny and Roxy were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and had beautiful weather and productive fishing during their trip. During the first few days, the ocean was glass calm, which allowed the group to travel to deep water to get nice limits of halibut. During the last day, they motor-mooched in The Shark Hole to avoid the gnarly ocean. The bite was hot in the morning, slowed mid-day, and picked up in early afternoon. They not only caught their limit, but three of the fish were between 28 and 35 pounds!

Captain Bryan fished the Hannula’s the first day of their trip. They battled the bumpy ocean to bag five kings and a limit of rockfish at Point Amelia before the bite slowed and pushed the group to calmer water. They retreated to The Shark Hole where they found three more kings to complete their limit. Boats that ventured to Shelikof Bay, including Captain Tom and Captain David caught halibut while salmon fishing.

The ocean is forecasted to diminish by mid-week, which should allow anglers to go deeper for halibut.
