AW 1

During the last week of June, the ocean was glass-calm. Silvers started to show up the week before and since Robert Yokoi brought his fly fishing gear, he thought he’d try his luck. Captain David marked schools of silvers at very shallow depths – 40 feet and up. Robert casted his fly from the bow, letting it sink just below the surface and sure enough, he found some interested cohos. He hooked into several fish and landed two! Once he conquered the cohos, he set his sights on a king. This required more patience – kings were not feeding as high as the silvers, so Robert needed to sink his fly to deeper depths. He locked into a king that chased him around the boat – fighting a bright, chrome king on a fly rod is a battle. They landed the fish and snapped some great shots with the fly in the fish’s mouth. When the fishing is hot, it’s always a fun challenge to see what they will bite on next.
