We’ll wax poetic and quote James Russell Lowell because it applies to mid-June in Sitka:

AND what is so rare as a day in June?
Then, if ever, come perfect days;

Perfect Dates: Arrive June 10, fish June 11, 12, 13 – Depart June 14.

  • Sitka is the best saltwater king fishing on the planet and mid-June is the statistical peak of the run.
  • Halibut, rockfish, and lingcod fishing never gets better.
  • This year’s run will be near record size – you’ll be fishing peak season during peak abundance.
  • Seattle to Sitka round trip on Delta for $207.51 – we don’t know when it will change but this is about 35% of recent rates. Many other big cities are experiencing the same low rates. Book it while you can.

If you haven’t fished mid-June in Sitka, you’re missing the crème de la crème of saltwater king salmon fishing. Massive schools feed all day off the coast. Enjoy some great catch and release sport with the highest catch rates of the season. Great bottomfish action, too. We won’t know the regulations for another couple of weeks, but there is a good chance we’ll see a two king per day limit in June again. We are amidst some of the highest king abundance in decades. You don’t want to miss out.
