Calm Seas, lots of silvers, easy halibut, and a bit more struggle than normal for kings. The pattern of the first half of July continues. How long the extreme calm can last? Who knows, but not forever. It appears the silver run will just keep racing along. The kings remain easy one day, hard the next, easy for one boat, hard for the next. That pattern will likely continue until sometime in the middle of August, the operative term being “likely”. Halibut fishing is excellent and, weather permitting, we’ll get them. So, in a nutshell, we’ve been going out on a mill pond ocean and catching lots of fish this July. It’s probably the longest stretch of calm I’ve ever seen in Sitka or anywhere else for that matter.
