Senator Lisa Murkowski fished aboard Albatross with Captain Tom on Saturday the 29th. Lisa’s son Nick is a good friend of AU’s Captain Bo Breuner who set up the trip. She travelled all day Friday after a late-night session in the senate to enjoy an excellent day of fishing. She brought two kings (resident limit) to the boat which were 22 and 25 pounds. She also landed a limit of silvers.

The trip took the Senator far away from cell phone coverage and the busy world in which she works. Saturday turned out to be one of the windier, wetter days of the month. We had wind and rain in the morning, then warm sun and calm for lunch. That was followed by a five-minute deluge, then more sun. The Senator showed her Alaska outdoor roots and fished hard throughout. Landing the 25-pound king while the boat was pushed by a 15-knot east wind proved quite a battle. We’re grateful to the Senator as she works to do the best for the people of Alaska and the country.
