Had a great time. Caught more fish than I can eat and had to buy a small freezer when I returned to store them all. The entire AU crew was super; felt like I was staying with family. Will definitely consider 2012 for another trip.

I don’t think I know enough superlatives to describe our experience with everyone at AU. Lynne and I were never without a smile. The genuine sincerity and professionalism of the entire staff was palpable and never wavered. Hope was always the attentive hostess, checking in with us whenever we were shore making sure we had everything from dinner reservations to plenty of blankets.

What praise can I heap on DJ that hasn’t already been said. He is truly passionate, professional and, in our case, patient with his guests. His talent at putting us on fish and helping us get hooked up was nothing short of amazing. Whether it was his enthusiasm for our success or compassion for our losses (yes, some got away), Lynne and I felt more like family on his boat than clients.

Bo was a terrific deckhand. He kept our baits fresh, lines tangle free, the decks clean and a drink or snack always in easy reach. Mooching is a different style of fishing than Lynne and I do back home so we were a little nervous about fishing with experienced anglers but DJ and Bo were great teachers.

I haven’t even mentioned you or Aleta or the fish packing guys or the other hostesses but everyone’s effort was wonderfully praiseworthy and greatly appreciated. Even having been home a few days now we still have our smiles thanks to everyone at AU. And will for a long, long time.

Fantastic trip. Captain Tom, Tony and the rest are great. My grandson Caden, had a lifetime experience and only at age 8.

All four of us thoroughly enjoyed this fishing experience. Tom and Tony worked hard to find the fish, keep our lines in the water and to work the bait through the column. They also had patience in trying to teach us how to keep the bait spread from the sinker.

You can’t believe how wonderful our fishing trip was. I had some misgivings about DJ as our captain because Greg and Ryan were so terrific. But, we all felt that DJ and Bo were a team that is unbeatable. Even after 4 days, we really hated to leave. DJ is not only skilled but he really has a nose for where and when to fish. None of us had ever been with a deckhand who knew more about fishing than Bo. It was like a fantasy dream for all of us and if we have any way of making it happen, we want to return around the same time with DJ and Bo as our fishing team leaders.

Daniel felt so much at home on the boat that he felt we had been with Angling Unlimited before. The room accommodations were so nice that we REALLY felt at home. Daniel caught his first tyee and everyday was an action packed experience of fun and fishing. As usual, Beth, our hostess, was always available to help us and we never missed a beat. Thanks to Angling Unlimited, we have just had the most fantastic fishing experience of our lives and rank it as the #1 trip of all our fishing experiences.

I was to pass on everyone’s appreciation for the outstanding treatment we all received from you,
Chuck and of course all of your staff. Of the many things I have enjoyed over the years has been the can do attitude that has always been AU’s mantra. Your team is a great tribute to you for your ability to pick the right people. Thanks.

There was not one single complaint about anything. We liked all of our Captains and deckhands and the hostesses were perfect, it’s nice to see the same faces each year. From the moment we met the hostesses at the airport they moved at the speed of 100 mph to ensure that we have everything we needed for our experience.

One final note while all the folks liked the skipper I want to just mention how fortunate AU is to have a partner like Chuck. Over many years that I have been coming to Sitka I never had an opportunity to spend any time with him. These past 3 days I saw a highly motivated professional control the activities and moods of his clients. As you may recall it rained two of the three days that we fished. At times the morale was a little low but c He would use the radio to lift spirits. When there was a long lull in activity he changed the activity and we caught our limit of cod.

The College Club group (all 7, 6 new) left Sitka saying they liked AU so much that they will want the same time next year. They all had fished several other resorts in Alaska, and said Angling Unlimited is the best yet! For 2 days we even had a #4 in our boat with Captain David (DJ) who fished with 4 other outfits in Sitka during a month stay who loved it enough to say he wants to come back to join our group next year. And that was after the sea lions twice ate his king salmon. Captain David and his deckhand Tony got raves!

We had a bang up trip thanks to the great work of Phil and Derrick and a very large and early run of silver salmon. We released over 20 kings on Day 2 in addition to the ones pictured here along with the boat limit of silvers. There were also non-stop Pinks in the mix which made for continuous action. We must have released hundreds over the three days. Tom was worried about his bait bill.

We’re looking forward to next year already!!

We did have another great trip. You folks have your act together, and spread the word to all that we are grateful for the excellent service and feeling of family that we get with Angling Unlimited.

The highlight of our trip was Monday afternoon. Actually let’s go back a few hours. The tide was moving against us, and even though we were a bit soft on kings, Capt Phil suggested we call it and head out for halibut. We readily agreed as he had already won our confidence. A quick check on the radio to Capt Ben indicated the honey hole was open with no bears about, and the halibut came quickly with a crank, crank, crank! So now Capt Phil remembers that sometimes there is a afternoon bite right after the tide change. We slip into _________ (secret place) and begin the GPS mambo. Move a little left, move a little right, put your big bow in, and take your skinny stern out, and wow, see that bait on the screen! Check the wind, check the drift, and get your bait in the water. The next hour was epic with two quads, a triple, and 13 kings to the boat. And no lost fish. We filled the cooler and released the rest, including we think, three over 30#. Now that’s fishing, with not a sea lion in sight!

Next day we did almost the same thing, hitting three nice fish right before the closing whistle. Say no more the crew was awesome!

Now, any chance for a second boat the same time next year? I am hearing from a lot of jealous friends……
