Kings Strong! Silvers Starting?

Fishing for kings, while not quite the wide open bite of last week, remains excellent with all AU boats getting limits again yesterday along with good catch and release opportunity. The fish are averaging around 20 pounds but a 31 pounder was landed yesterday. We have yet to see any really big kings, but the numbers have been spectacular since the last 10 days of May. Some silvers have also begun trickling in along with chums, pinks, and even a sockeye landed by the Brantigan party. Halibut fishing has been good for chickens up to 30 pounds, but big flatties were evasive yesterday (June 24). Large amounts of baitfish are present in all the usual locations with big schools of herring and needlefish (Pacific sandlance) boiling on the surface feeding on krill. With this kind of ocean productivity, it’s my guess the silvers can’t be far away.
