King Season Part II?

By August 16, 2010No Comments

Silvers made themselves somewhat scarce yesterday with most boats catching between 6 and 10. This isn’t normal for mid-August when silvers are typically very abundant. The abnormal quality of the season is added to by the number of kings around. All of the AU fleet caught king limits and released others. There is no explaining days like yesterday which fished more like late June than mid-August. One thing beyond description was the weather – crystal clear with the Fairweather Range – nearly 100 miles away – visible all day long. The ocean was dead calm, the temps in the 70’s and the air was unusually dry. The whale show continued with the Turpin party, fishing with Captain Chuck, enjoying the sites of feeding humpbacks after a day of great fishing that included the release of a 33 pound king.
