Fishing in the past few days has been marked by high seas, a bit of rain, and some wind. On Sunday our fleet was confined to the Shark Hole and came in with half limits or so of silvers. But, the silvers were all big with most over 10 pounds and a few in the mid-teens. Also, Karl Hauser, fishing with Captain Phil landed a 26 pound king salmon. On Monday the weather let up enough to allow a trip to the ocean – which was rough with good fishing. Mark and Tamara Gochman, fishing a half day before flying home to LA boated, 9 silvers up to 15 pounds plus two kings, one of which was 30 pounds in just 2 and a half hours of fishing. The Hauser groups, with Captain Phil brought in a limit of silvers and Herman Albright, fishing with the Earl Parrish group on Captain Chuck’s boat landed a beautiful 17 pound silver. Although limits weren’t caught on all boats, the quality of these late season silvers is spectacular. They fight hard and make incredible jumps. Halibut fishing is decent on protected inside waters now and our boats have been doing well with chickens. The season is winding down – our last day out is September 7.
