FullSizeRender-2 copyThe past three days encapsulated everything late June is supposed to be. Aboard Captain Spencer’s boat, the Olsen’s found limits of kings each day, with some days being exceptionally fast. Schools of kings swam under their boat resulting in double and triple hook-ups. The group caught their fish and had numerous opportunities for catch and release. They continued to fish south each day and were most productive near the Cape gravel. Some days they did a multi-species program for halibut, rockfish, and salmon, while other days they went to deep water for the flat-fish. Deep water fishing was fast and delivered black cod as a bonus.

The cohos are starting to trickle in as well. They averaged 6 silvers each day which is pleasant sight this time of year. The fish are in the 6-8 pound range. Any day now we should start seeing double digit catches!

Other Captains including Bo and Bryan finished the last day of their trips exploring areas to the north for cohos. They didn’t find cohos, but they found kings. Each group already had their limits, so it was catch and release only. But, with calm, sunny weather and a hot king bite, it was a great way to cap off a trip.

We’ve been very fortunate to have so many sunny days the past month. These are some of the longest days of the year for sunlight, but if you stay up late enough, you’ll be rewarded with a colorful sunset over the ocean.
