Captain Bryan was born in 1986 to Brad Christensen and Mary Madden. Captain Cobrah began fishing at a very early age and claims “it’s in my blood and my passion for fishing is stronger than ever.” Bryan began with Angling Unlimited as a deckhand in 2006 working with Captains Phil Carlson and Chris Weiland. That season he first discovered the thrill of catching king salmon, halibut and rockfish as well as the beauty of Alaska. He soon fell in love with all of it, including what he calls “the Angling Unlimited scene”.
After 2006, Bryan attended college for nursing but the call of fishing in Alaska changed his course to pursuing a captain’s position for Angling Unlimited. To that end, he deckhanded for Captains DJ and Tom for two seasons. “I was very fortunate to deckhand for 4 different captains”, states Bryan. “It allowed me to incorporate all of their strengths into my fishing style”. And, his strengths are many. Captain Bryan has a strong following because of his positive approach and high success rate.
Bryan spends his winter on Maui where he works as a teaching professional at Kapalua Golf Course. “I go from my summer paradise in Sitka to my winter paradise on Maui. life is good.” As for how he got the nickname The Cobrah – you’ll have to ask him!
