The silvers fishing remained fairly strong through Thursday. Limits aren’t necessarily the rule, but we’re averaging three or four per angler. The size of these fish is impressive with big hook nosed males in the mid to high teens common. To our surprise, we’re still seeing the odd king mixed in with the catches as well as chums and a few sockeye. The weather has been spectacular – sunny, calm, and warm – not the usual September fare which usually includes some wind and rain. Halibut fishing remains reliable but not super fast. Rockfish and lingcod have both been strong. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing quite a few Dall’s porpoises, including a group that decided to bow ride in front of my boat on Tuesday. The boats are out three more days. We’ll have a summary of the second half of the season in next week’s newsletter. Stay tuned.
