Sitka Fishing Report: September 9, 2019

The past week brought the biggest silvers of the year and a decent shot at kings. After a slowish day of silver fishing on September 1, we experienced a southeast blow with heavy rain on the 2nd which brought excellent silver fishing along with some kings. It was rough, the drift was fast, but the payoff was good. Halibut fishing that day was a rough and tumble show, but they were there. Things slowed again to half limits on the 3rd, but the 4th was calm, clear and the silver fishing was excellent with lots of big hook-nose fishing in low to mid teens. The fishing perked along on the 5th with half to 3/4 limits, but the size of the fish remained extraordinary with many in the low to mid-teens. Richard Pelly landed a 32 pound king amidst the silvers on Albatross on the 5th. Halibut and rockfish remain nearly slam dunk.
