The king fishing over the past two weeks has been the best we’ve seen in years. We’re finding large masses of baitfish with schools of kings feeding on them. Multiple hookups, not so common in the past few seasons, are the rule each day, as are limits. The number of locations on the outer coast that we’re finding kings speaks to the number of fish out there this year. In short, it’s good – very, very good. And the same goes for halibut – plenty around with limits the rule on most days. The king regulations for July and August are back to the good old days – one per day and four annually. The maximum halibut size has been raised to 45 inches, also the best we’ve seen in years.

We understand that making the decision to travel is a personal choice based on each individual’s risk factors and comfort level. Those who have made the trip so far have found travel easy and Angling Unlimited has located mail-in self-testing that complies with Alaska’s travel mandates. It’s at-home and easy. We have some prime-time dates open in July and August. Give us a call.
