Captain Tom's Fishing Report

Sitka Fishing Report: September 3rd, 2020

By September 3, 2020No Comments

August ended with strong silver action, the odd king including a 40 pounder caught by Ann Delahanty on Captain Chuck’s boat, and very good halibut fishing. We endured a big blow on August 30 and 31 that pretty much took the ocean off-limits. When we returned on September 1, we found a big swell, confused ocean, and lots of big silvers. The ocean slowly settled on September 2 and the big silvers were still there. We have a week left in the 2020 season. The forecast for the home stretch looks good with no storms in sight. We’re expecting the excellent action that early September delivers most years – big silvers in good numbers, the very occasional king, plus plenty of halibut and rockfish.
