Heartfelt Goodbye to Carly…
For the past three seasons, Carly Pluskwick has been the friendly face in Angling Unlimited’s Sitka office, the informative voice on the phone, the rapid responder to countless emails, and the person organizing the complex logistics of our land crew. Now she’s moving back to Minnesota for a full-time career and year-round contact with family.
Carly arrived late in 2017 to help us finish the season after some of our college-bound staff left. She fell in love with the job and AU saw great potential in her, which she fulfilled.
“I loved constantly meeting new people, training staff, living in Alaska, and sharing the wonder. I had a real passion for playing a key role in the success of our clients’ trips. And, whenever I could catch a break an epic hike or spectacular trip on the water was minutes away.”
We’ll miss Carly and wish her the very best!
…Warm Welcome to Bella!
Gabriell Bayerl, known to all as Bella, takes over the office manager job for 2021. For the past two seasons, Bella did a great job as an AU hostess. Now she’s ready for a management role.
“I’m excited by the new challenge and a chance to hone my organizational and coordination skills. I get to start with a seasoned core of hostesses returning in 2021, which makes it all the better. I’m also looking forward to meeting all the AU clients.”
Like her predecessor Carly, Bella loves that “nature is at your fingertips. You’re surrounded by wilderness with a great hike or boat trip minutes away.” She also likes the fast pace of the job and learning skills that range from the computer to the interpersonal, to the mechanical. If a car battery is dead or a tire needs changing, she can handle it.
We welcome Bella to her next phase with AU.
Carly will be greatly missed. She always had a smile on her face and was willing to help any way that she could. I will especially miss being able to meet with her and Chuck at the Sportsman Shows in Fargo.

I began my journey to Sitka 1993. I fished with Tom in his Seaport, with Chuck as his deck hand. That year we nicknamed Chuck the CHUCKSTER. I think it stuck.We fished with downriggers and never got onto the ocean. Fishing was great. I got my first halibut that was 120 lbs. Since then I have made many trips, fishing with AU. One of the highlights of my 26 years of retirement has the many trips to Sitka fishing with friends and family at AU.
