Angling Unlimited’s New Captain

Our new skipper isn’t new to us or a fair number of our guests. We know Tyler Floding quite well and have 100% confidence that he’s ready for the helm.

Tyler was hired on as an assistant fish processor at AU in 2017, but we enlisted his help doing early-season deckhand work with Captain Bo. An unexpected opening for a deckhand came up that May and Tyler, already a proven asset on the water, began decking for Captain Tom. He continued in that role for four seasons, also filling in with Captain Sarah, and doing a knockout job. Tyler quickly made friends with customers and showed a natural sense for AU’s customer service. He paid attention to every detail, learning about running a boat, catching fish, and all phases of our operation. Tyler took a year off from AU in 2021 to pursue a full-time job in North Dakota, but the call of the North Pacific proved too strong. AU made him an offer this fall that he couldn’t refuse. He replaces Captain Jaime in our lineup for 2022.

Happy Holidays From Angling Unlimited

All of us at AU wish all of you the happiest of holiday seasons. We’ve all faced some unforeseeable challenges these past two years. Now is a good time to set them aside, enjoy friends and family, break bread, and eat homemade smoked salmon from last summer’s catch in Sitka. What could be better?

From the Angling Unlimited family to yours, we’re wishing you a very Happy Holidays!

A New Year Brings A New Boat

AU pioneered the aluminum walkaround boat revolution in Sitka beginning in 1999 with Shearwater. We’ve evolved the concept with each new boat since and that continues in 2022 with two new North River boats. Captain Sarah will take the helm of one of the boats. Captain Ryan will own and skipper the other. We’ve opted to power them with Volvo diesels, and the new boats will be slightly larger. The design process was completed this month with the sketch you see above. The build-out begins next month. We’ll keep you posted with photos and updates as the projects progress.
