We’ve enjoyed one of the sunniest early seasons in recent memory and mostly calm seas. Even the rougher and rainier days haven’t been that rough or rainy. Add highly productive fishing for all species for the past few weeks and we’re off to a great start for 2022. The kings continue to show up in greater numbers with large schools feeding on mountains of needlefish (Pacific sand lance). Aside from attracting salmon, the needlefish bring the whales inshore for some great viewing including the occasional breech. We’ve enjoyed fast fishing for halibut offshore with quite a few blackcod and Pacific cod in the mix. Inshore the rockfish remain ever willing with some nice keeper lingcod crashing the party. In short, June is firing on all cylinders.
