Silvers ascending, Kings fading

The past week delivered what we expect for mid-August. Silvers continue to show up in greater numbers and in more locations. We’ve seen excellent catches coming from the north, south, and in between. Also typical for mid-August, king numbers are slowly waning. On any given day you might run into 3 or 4 kings while chasing silvers, but the next day you might encounter none. The chum salmon continue as the bonus fish, but they are getting more mature and less appealing for the table. Their numbers will decline in the next week. Halibut catches continue to be fast and furious in one of our northern locations. To the south, we get the halibut, but not instantly. The weather has been good for most of the past week except for Wednesday the 17th which delivered a lot of wind and rain. As we hit late August and the final act of 2022 we expect to see the biggest silvers of the year and lots of them.
