Why you’re here/why Alaska: There has always been a strong attraction to Alaska for me, ever since I was a young child I would tell my mother I was going to Alaska at some point in my life, may that be in my youth or in my elder ages I was going to be in Alaska at some point in my life. Alaska, in my opinion, is one of the last areas on the earth that has not been dramatically altered by mankind. The sheer beauty of Sitka is another drawing factor for me, but the largest reason is teaching and showing people the great outdoors. Influencing people to actively seek outdoor enjoyment, along with being that reason someone starts to take opportunities for enjoyment in the outdoors is an accomplishment to me.
What you do in the off season: In the off-season I have been working in the construction industry, primarily doing electrical. Taking time off to venture out west to stay with friends, enjoy snowboarding, doing anything fun outside, helping my mom with her property, and spending time with my girlfriend.
What you love to do/hobbies: I have a huge passion for fishing, fly fishing, hunting, snowboarding, mtn biking, backpacking, and anything that gets me outside. Love doing little projects around my mom’s house too, when I have time!
Education/goals/career plan: Graduated from University of Minnesota Duluth in December 2017 with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. Looking to get involved in manufacturing of something interesting, but would ultimately love to get involved with the sustainability and renewable energy industry, such as solar and wind energy generation.
