We are back in Washington and enjoying the wonderful Alaska halibut, king salmon and silver salmon. Our visit to Sitka was very refreshing and exciting. My wife Pam and Chad’s wife and daughter thoroughly enjoyed the shopping, sightseeing and restaurants. For Chad and I, the highlight naturally was the fishing trip with Angling Unlimited.
That day on the water was so much fun. You teamed us up with a real fun group of fishermen. Jim, Dan and “Slinkie” were a real hoot, and a lot of fun to be with. I think we hit it off quite well and they were more than willing to share their many stories and expertise with us “newbies”. As for Captain Chuck and Sarah, what an exceptionally professional captain and mate. They were very friendly and demonstrated their extreme knowledge in putting us on fish and the methods used to catch and land the fish. They were always attentive to our personal and fishing needs. I never baited a hook. The Captain and Sarah were always on top of it. I thoroughly enjoyed being on the water with them.
Oh yes, and I cannot forget the whales. We had whales close by us most of the day. I even had the extreme pleasure of witnessing seven “bubble-nets” by the whale pod. My wife Pam loves whales, and the joke on the boat all day was “make sure no one tells Pam about the whales”. Well, as soon as we got back to the Angling Unlimited office, everyone was talking about the whales we saw. Naturally I was in trouble. We will just have to come back so she can go out with us just to see the whales.
Chad and I had a great time and are hopeful we will be returning to fish with Angling Unlimited in the near future.
