Year after year, the anticipation of our Angling Unlimited (AU) fishing adventure grows. As we arrive this year, we are pleasantly surprised at the newly renovated Sitka Airport. The one thing that had not changed was four smiling faces holding AU signs. We quickly gathered our bags and were whisked off to the lodge where we met our Hostess, Bree. As usual, she was pleasant and readily helped us with all the information for the upcoming days. Finally, the time came for us to start our first day of adventurous fishing. We met Spencer and this year, Brad, the deck hand. Off we go, first boat out. The weather was perfect and the seas were cooperative. Spencer started his first drift and with a couple of drops, we were hooked up. Yells, of “fish on” were steady. We fought through the pink salmon and chums for the elusive King and speedy Silver. Spencer, the best captain, (my opinion), never moved too far so we had more fishing time than travel time. Both Spencer and Brad were always monitoring us and keeping us baited and untangled. After, fishing in Sitka for about 28 years, it never gets old. After 3 days, we maxed out our fish boxes. My personal best, this year, was a 20+ pound King. I never worry about anything fishing with AU. Chuck and Jen (owners) treat every person as part of the family. The entire staff at AU are exceptional. In addition, I would like to mention Bella, the office manager/trip coordinator. She did an exceptional job of preparing everything for us including my shorty boots…2027 is already booked and the adventure will begin again.
