"Find a way to make everyday the best day of your life."
Name: David Gross
Year Started with AU: 2003
History with AU: Began as a processor, then Captain Tom’s deckhand for 3 years and running a boat for 6 years.
What do you like to do when you’re not fishing with AU: I like to go fishing wherever I am and as much as possible. I’m also an artist, so much of the “off season” is spent making and exhibiting artwork.
What do you love about your job: Having the opportunity to meet new people and take them fishing, as well as being able to be on the water every day in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
What style of fishing do you enjoy: I prefer to fish in the most effective manner for what I am targeting, but also enjoy experimenting with new or different ways to catch fish when the “tried and true” methods aren’t working. I also enjoy getting away from crowded areas and prefer a hands-on approach, feeling the fish bite, for me, enhances the entire experience.
What kind of fish do you prefer to catch: I enjoy catching any fish that are available. I like having the opportunity to catch a variety of species. In terms of fight, however, King Salmon on the open ocean are hard to top.
How do you describe yourself and dealing with other people: Easy going, try to avoid conflict and enjoy helping people as much as I can.
Angling Unlimited is proud to have a captain that is as good of a fisherman as he is an artist. Visit the link below and commemorate your trip with a painting inspired by the natural beauty of Sitka.
