"A day above the ground is a good one."
Name: Greg Mohs
Age: 31
Family Status: I met Kristin, who was hostess for 2 years with Angling Unlimited and she worked in the AU office for 1 year, and we married in 2006.
History with Angling Unlimited (How’d you get connected to AU and Sitka,AK?): I answered an ad in my hometown newspaper for a deckhand. Owner, Chuck McNamee, lives near my hometown and I met up with him for a meal and some photos, and was lucky to be able to join the AU Crew. I started in 2001, deckhanded for 4 years and moved up to captain after that.
History of Fishing: Fished as a kid on and off on camping trips. Took a trip to Anchorage after graduating high school and went salmon fishing for the first time, found a new interest.
Favorite fish and how you like it cooked: Too many to choose from, variety is the spice of life.
Favorite part of the job: I would have to say the unknown. Going out fishing in Southeast Alaska you just never know what you are going to catch, what wildlife you will see, or what weather you will have to enjoy or endure for the day. No matter what, it is an experience to remember.
What do you do in the off season: For the last few years, it seems like moving. Kristin and I lived in Minnesota for most of our lives, but with her work we have been moving the last few years. We lived in Chicago for 2 years and recently moved to the Bay Area in California. So, looking for places to live, work, and enjoying the new surroundings until fishing season.
