Our boats are having continuous success heading south for halibut, kings, rockfish, and now – silvers! The cape has been solid all season. Most boats are finding that the majority of their limits are caught while mooching at the Cape. Some are having success with anchoring and others are finding that drifting is best.
Our clients are enjoying the days of sunny weather and amazing sunsets at the suites after their day of fishing. The days will only get shorter after today, so it will be easier to witness Sitka’s beautiful sunsets as the season progresses. Earlier this week had a bit of overcast, but the weekend was very nice. This upcoming week’s forecast calls for rain, but a calm ocean.
The Messenger group started fishing this week, Dave Messenger took the group lead when he boated in a 28-pound king! Captain Tom found the right spots for his group and brought 16 silvers back to the dock.
This week was the first solid sign that silvers are here. Our boats have been seeing a lot of bait and whales south of town. Each day, more silvers are hitting the docks. The Cape is full of life and we’re encouraged by these signs of more great things to come this summer.
