Captains Class
This January deckhands Hayden Schaber and Luke McNamee completed their Captain’s class and will be licensed and ready for 2025! We are excited to have both back this summer and give them some time at the helm.
Day Charters Coming in 2025
We are excited to bring something new to AU this Summer. Day charters are the perfect choice to anyone with a limited time in Sitka, whether it be off the cruise ships or simply looking for a day to experience Sitka fishing. Check out the details of our Day Charters here!
Loon Gets a New Look
Loon has been spending some time in the shop getting some upgrades for the 2025 season. We’ve converted her to outboard power with a pair of 250-horsepower Hondas. This increases the deck space and speed for Captain Luke McNamee who will be running the newly offered day charters.
Preparing for Your 2025 Trip
Do you have the RealID or a passport? If you answered no, now is the time to apply. Beginning on May 7, 2025, TSA will require one of these forms of identification for their screening process and no longer accept state-issued IDs. Learn more on the TSA website here.
In Other News
As this newsletter hits your inbox AU will have 8 captains in Ketchikan for the Alaska Board of Fisheries meeting. At this meeting, our fishing regulations for all species other than halibut will be set for the next three years. We’re working hard to preserve your opportunities when fishing with us. Halibut regulations will be firmed up by the first of February at the International Pacific Halibut Commission meeting in Victoria, BC. We’ll send out a special edition newsletter as soon as the regulations are set in stone.
