Exciting Updates for 2025
It’s been a busy offseason at AU headquarters in Sitka. From upgrades to our accommodations to enhancements in our fleet, we’ve been hard at work making improvements to ensure an even better experience for our guests.
A New Look for the Sitka Rock Suites
One of the most exciting changes this season is the deck upgrades at the Sitka Rock Suites. Captain Ryan has been overseeing the transformation, tackling plenty of planning, measuring, and a bit of head-scratching along the way.
Once materials arrived, Captain Chuck and his hardworking crew of eight powered through Sitka’s rainy weather to bring the vision to life. As luck would have it, Jenny and Grace arrived just in time for a break in the rain—perfect for an inspection and, of course, giving their stamp of approval. Phase two will include updates to the lower-level waterfront decks, so stay tuned for more.
A New Powerhouse for Loon
The AU boat Loon, a staple in our fleet since 2007, just got an upgrade. This winter, we replaced its diesel engine with twin 250 HP Honda outboards, giving it a fresh boost of power. While this required some significant modifications, we’re confident that Loon will continue to be the smooth-riding, fish-catching machine we all know and love. Captain Luke is excited to take the helm and share his passion for fishing. He’ll primarily be leading day trips but will also jump in to help where needed.
A New Chapter for Storyteller
After years of incredible memories and successful fishing trips, Storyteller has found a new home. Captain James led many unforgettable journeys aboard this vessel, and we’re thrilled that it will continue to fish these Sitka waters under new ownership. While it’s bittersweet to see it go, we know Storyteller’s legacy will live on.
