Over our 30 plus years of operating in Sitka, AU has been honored with the opportunity to fish with veterans whose service dates range from World War 2 through the present. On our boats we’ve had three former navy admirals at one time, a survivor of the Battle of Chosen Reservoir in the Korean conflict (for the unfamiliar – look it up), Vietnam vets, and those who have served in the actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many have served during the peace time, too. Our veterans have valued and defended our freedom and our country above all.

On this Veteran’s Day we at AU recognize and value their service with a special price for all our men and women who have served or are currently serving.

New bookings made from Veterans Day through the end of the year by active or retired military will receive a 10% Military/Veteran discount.

After January 1st we will continue to have a 5% military discount for new bookings or people that are currently booked. Just ask and we’ll gratefully apply a 5% military discount.

Captain Conner Cooke served as a 0351 (assaultman) in the US Marine Corps specializing in demolition breaching. While in service he traveled to Japan, Australia, and Thailand training with foreign forces. He served as a section leader for the last year and a half of his service before he was honorably discharged in 2017.

Long-time guest Jim McLendon served 21 years active duty with the US Navy and 9 years fleet reserve. He was stationed aboard 7 warships carrying out missions all over the world, including areas of war such as Viet Nam, the Bay of Pigs, and Invasion of Cuba. During the 1970’s he participated in the Navy’s Personnel Exchange Program and was stationed aboard German Frigates for 3 years. He retired from the Navy to reunite with his family after years of service.
