King salmon regulations are set for 2016 and they are as good as it gets. In Sitka, we benefit from the salmon highway out our backdoor. The last few years, we’ve seen excellent regulations and incredible runs of kings. This season is forecasted to follow suit. With another high abundance index, we have another year of very generous regulations.
The 2016 king salmon regulations for Southeast Alaska are now official:
Daily limit: 2 kings per day in May and June. 1 king per day the rest of the season.
Annual limit: 6 kings per year – all season.
We start dropping lines for our chrome friends in a month – if you want to catch kings in Alaska, make it Sitka, where the salmon fishing is the best in the whole state.
