The last 10 days of June have been marked by excellent numbers of silvers and mostly good catches of kings. The king run continues to present the occasional hiccup which seldom lasts more than a day. Even on those days, kings are landed, we just work harder at it. The silvers numbers have been building steadily since mid-June with limits or near limits becoming more common in the last week of June. Halibut fishing in the deep water remains very fast with many in the 30 to 40-pound range. Rockfish are, as always, abundant as are lingcod. The trick with lings is finding them in the magic slot limit of 30 to 35 inches.
Cool and cloudy best describes the June weather. There have been a few days of calm sunshine and a few of wind. Mainly we’ve seen fishable conditions and manageable seas.
