We love hearing from our guests, and we know you do too!
Enjoy this fishing trip recap from long-time Angler Jim McLendon…
Great day great weather great sea state calm winds lots of Kings around for everyone.
3 King Salmon – released 6
4 Halibut – released 3
13 Black Cod
1 Ling Cod – released 1
13 Black Rockfish
1 Pacific Cod
Yesterday was a time zone adjustment day and strolling through Sitka and the Estuary at Starrigavan – walked the boardwalk even though we had been advised there was a Mama bear & 2 cubs there – enjoyed the walk but the big brown bears had already moved on, although they really had been walking on the same boardwalk as they had left 3 different piles of their scat!!!
This is a breathtaking place.
Another spectacular weather day, which enabled us to go a few miles offshore to fish for Halibut & Black Cod in over 700′ of water (a lot of reeling).
We caught our limits of Halibut & King Salmon, but because one of our group was trying to constantly upgrade his catches to larger fish he released both and I’m not retaining any salmon so far. We also caught some more Black Cod while reeling in much larger Halibut.
So darn beautiful here – wish I could treat everyone to experience this incredible place.
Wheels-Up in the Morning
What a great addition to this year’s travel – picture perfect weather and sea state – often like a giant mirror – eagles shrieking all day long – lots of the greatest seafood in the world caught and packed.
Totals for this June:
14 King Salmon
37 Black Rockfish
21 Black Cod
5 Pacific Cod
3 Ling Cod
Some of the very best fishing I’ve ever experienced. It’s a complete joy to be here year after year and be mesmerized by the beauty of this area and the owners and staff of Angling Unlimited take it to yet another level of excellence – Bravo Zulu AU.
Re the King Salmon catch – we caught and released about the same # shown before. Very successful Chinook fishing!
Fun moments aboard, as well as a sampling of dinner Ludvig’s Bistro – delicious eating in a cozy setting.
