We experienced an unusual and prolonged stretch of windy, wet weather the past three days. On the 23rd, most boats got their kings and had a chance to get good halibut catches before the bigger winds arrived. Thursday was a tough day of very rough water and sparse king action. One of our boats got a quick limit of kings Thursday, but for the rest of the boats, half limits or less were the rule and the halibut grounds were blown out. Friday remained rough and windy but the kings came on strong and everyone limited out. A few boats made offshore for halibut, but most opted to stay closer to shore for the abundant rockfish. The kings are here and we’re about to get better weather. Stay tuned.
