Jack Mc Take the Helm
Our long-term clients may remember Jack McNamee as a baby, as a kid on the dock, as a precocious deckhand (starting at age 14), and as a full-time, full-grown deckhand. The son ofAngling Unlimited’s owners Chuck and Jenny McNamee is beyond ready to take the next step in 2024 as a full-time captain. Anyone who has been aboard with Jack knows he’s more than prepared in every way for the task. He brings a lifetime of experience on Sitka waters, during which he clearly paid attention to every detail and then figured out some more details of his own. He’s bright, fun, focused, and exudes an enormous amount of energy to the boat. He may even be louder than his father on the water, and that’s saying something. Dates Available
The schedule is steadily filling, but there are still prime dates available in May, the first two weeks of June, and September. The early season dates give you prime-time king action. September offers excellent silver (coho) fishing with a shot at the holy grail of the 20-pounder. Coho grow rapidly during their last summer at sea. By early September we see lots of them in the low to mid-teens. The limit is six per day, the action and excitement of a hot bite with big hooknose silvers can’t be described – you must experience it. Both sets of dates are great for halibut, lingcod, and rockfish.
Book Your Air
Scouring the Internet, timing when to buy tickets to the exact minute to get the best airfare is an obsession for some folks. For most of us, getting a good price and the flights that work for your schedule does the trick. We suggest that everyone who has booked with AU and hasn’t reserved air travel look at the current prices. Alaska Airlines serves Sitka throughout the season and their fares look good lately. Delta also serves Sitka starting in June and running through early September. Sitka is a popular summer destination, and the flights fill up fast.
Alaska Air is running a very attractive credit card offer that might make your travel this summer more affordable.
