Silver fishing hit a very high notes of late. Other than two days with challenging weather we’ve been catching mostly limits or near limits of silvers up to 17 pounds. Many of them are over 10 pounds now, able to make long runs and spectacular leaps. We’re finding the silvers on the open ocean, so its weather sensitive. We are shut down for king retention as a conservation measure and, as is typical for late August, the numbers are diminishing. That said, there were a few days when kings seemed unusually abundant. Stuart Thomson, a client at AU since the 1990’s hooked 10 kings in two days last week. The halibut fishing remains extremely reliable but fewer really big GAF fish hit the dock in the past week. Lingcod continue to show up regularly and the rockfish never fail to provide fast excitement.
