Happy Days

Big schools of silvers showed up the past three days with limits mostly the rule. The fish have been in schools making for fast action when you find them on the bite. Many silvers are looking a little more mature with set scales and green backs. The size ranges from 6 pounds on the low end to low teens on the high. We’re expecting some heavy rain over the weekend which should bring more silvers toward the nearshore waters.

Kings reopened on August 4 and our guests are bringing in good numbers of kings from 10 to 24 pounds. The king numbers are slowly fading, typical as we move into mid August. The annual limit is one. We’re hoping that king retention stays open through the end of our season in September.

Halibut action continues to be fast near the silver bite. Guests are landing good numbers of GAF halibut up to 100 pounds. Yelloweye rockfish remain open with an annual limit of one. Blackcod fishing has been a bit more challenging of late because of rougher water offshore. Inshore the black rockfish never let us down.
