Royal Return: Kings Reopen, Silvers Reign

Kings reopened on August 4th with some beauties in the low 20s hitting the dock. It wasn’t red hot for kings which were caught in with the abundant silvers. It’s way too early for the kings to disappear, so we expect to see plenty more over the next few weeks.

Silvers are well established now with catches of half limits to limits over the past week. This Tuesday the bite lit up with all the boats bringing in the limit. The size ranges mostly from 8 to 12 pounds. It appears the run is steadily increasing in numbers and size of the fish.

Rockfishing remains excellent and yelloweye (one per season) is still open. The offshore fishing for blackcod got a bit tougher due to weather. With so many silvers to catch (6 per person), most of the guests choose to focus on salmon and halibut closer to shore.
