Action Packed August: Silvers, Halibut, Lingcod & More

Silver season 2025 continues to produce impressive results over the past week with limits and near limits common on most days. The size of the silvers increases with every passing, as these fish eat like there’s no tomorrow. We’ve seen a few fish in the low to mid-teens with most weighing in between 8 and 10 pounds.

King fishing reopened on August 4th with a one per day/one annual limit. The fish may have gotten the memo because they started getting harder to find. King numbers typically decline steadily as we move toward the final weeks of August and that’s what we’re seeing. That said, on any given day you can still run into them.

Halibut fishing has been fast and close to the silver action. Lingcod reopened on Saturday, August 16 with many in the 30-to-35-inch slot hitting the dock opening day. We had some rough weather last weekend which kept the ocean a bit out of shape into the early week and prevented boats from the offshore pursuit of blackcod. When the ocean calmed most guests remained focused on silvers and decided to forgo the long run and time commitment for a blackcod venture.

Yelloweye rockfish remain open through August 25th and seem easy to find. Black rockfish provided dependable fun, as always.
