Puget Sound Anglers

By March 22, 2013No Comments

In the past two weeks, I’ve been honored to speak to Puget Sound Angler chapters from Lake Washington and Bellingham. I’ve run into a number of long time Angling Unlimited anglers including Mark Brasham, Doug Wiviot, Jon Calvo, and Bob Faine – all from the Lake Washington chapter. All four started fishing with us in 1995. Ron Behrens also attended the Lake Washington meeting and will be up this season, too. In Bellingham, I was thrilled to see Ernie Saurland, who made the long drive from Port Townsend with his buddy Rick Reed. Ernie has fished with us from nearly the beginning and will be back again this year, too. The topic of my talks has been the great fishing in Sitka and our hands on, sport oriented salmon fishing method. It’s called mooching and it’s both highly effective and a lot more fun than trolling.

If you live in western Washington and love to fish I’d suggest joining the Puget Sound Anglers. The meetings are well attended by knowledgeable people who get out there and fish a lot. It’s a really friendly atmosphere and the organization accomplishes much for conservation and sport fishing opportunities. Just go to www.pugetsoundanglers.org and find the closest chapter.
