Angling Unlimited’s new boat, a North River 30 footer named Albatross, is making it’s way through the production phases. Fully welded and painted, she’s now in “rigging” which means mechanical systems, electronics, seats, windows, and nearly everything else that transforms the aluminum structure into a first class, comfortable North Pacific sport fishing machine. Each new boat that AU orders benefits from the evolution which began with Shearwater in 1999. Albatross will be a foot longer, she’s powered by a Volvo D-6, has the latest electronics from Simrad, and we’ve tweaked anything we thought could be improved.
Date of delivery to the barge is May 17, which should have her in Sitka by May 24 and in service shortly thereafter. Then we’ll christen her by breaking a bottle of Alaskan Amber over the bow and head out for king salmon, halibut, rockfish, and lingcod – the standard late May and June fare on the waters near Sitka.
