Hook It and Cook It 2017: A Family Affair

The annual kick off to the AU season was made a little more special this year. Chef Ludger Szmania’s entire family showed up – wife Julie, sons Ethan, Victor, and Lucas, plus family friend Marcos Vincente dos Reis from Brazil. Son Lucas worked as a deckhand for AU in previous seasons and is now training in Munich, Germany to become a chef. He and dad put on four nights of delicious, educational, and entertaining cooking to a full house of anglers (perhaps we link to some of the rave reviews we got from the customers). The rest of the family, schooled by decades in the restaurant business, took care of serving, cleaning, and running the show. The rest of us relaxed and ate like royalty.

The fishing for king salmon decent, but not lights out. Halibut and rockfish opportunities were excellent as always. This event continues to be a big hit each year. If you’re thinking of doing it in 2018, give us a call.
