We saw great contrasts in the past four days. We had chilly rain, wind, and rough seas
Wednesday that forced the only two boats out into the inside waters and the fishing was slow.
Thursday, we found the leftovers of the blow on the ocean – big swell and a bit confused but we
found good numbers of kings, got to the halibut grounds and limits were the rule. Our guests
enjoyed blue skies and calm seas on Friday – the nicest day of the year so far with quick king
limits and trips offshore for great halibut action. Saturday wasn’t as clear, but the seas were still
calm and the fishing for kings, halibut, rockfish, and lingcod was excellent. Weather-wise, most
of May and early June has been wetter and colder than normal but the 10-day forecast looks
like that pattern is about to break. And, regardless of the weather, the fishing was excellent.
