Chase the Sun with Sitka Fishing

How do you brighten the short days and long nights of December? Why not flip the low light equation on its head by planning a May or early June fishing trip to Sitka where the days are long and the nights short? Late spring fishing on our saltwater wilderness features excellent king action with the most generous limits of the year. The halibut have moved into their usual haunts providing the best shot of the year for barn doors. Lingcod opens on May 16 with abundant “slot cod” in shallow water. The rockfish abound, the whales have returned from Mexico and Hawaii, and the snow-covered mountains shimmer in the spring sun.
