King fishing has hit a good stride as is typical for mid-June. Our guests have dropped
into decent size schools and enjoyed multiple hookups. The kings kept range mostly
from the upper teens to the lower twenties. We have seen a couple in the high 20’s and
one over 30 in the past week. A very few random silvers, chums, and pinks spiced the
catch in the past few days. An unfortunate dogfish intrusion has brought a bit of
frustration to halibut fishing on some days, but limits are the rule. We’ve also seen a
respectable number of GAF halibut. Calm weather has allowed us to get offshore for
excellent blackcod catches. Of course, the rockfish provide fun and excitement with
great consistency. Do the random silvers telegraph the vanguard of the run? It’s a little
early but hope spring eternal.
