Slower Silver Days, Steady Halibut Wins—and Better Bites on the Horizon
The past 4 days brought a slow down on the silver front. Our boats headed north on the
14th and 15th and found the action scratchy. The hot bite from a couple of days earlier flew
the coup. On the 15th one of our boats headed south and brought in a limit of 24 silvers.
The boats to the north continued scratching. On the 17th the scratch continued with all
boats heading south. Scores ranged from a couple silvers to 15. King fishing remains
red-hot, but retention of kings is closed which makes this situation a bit frustrating.
Halibut catches have been consistently good. Boats did not get out for blackcod on the
15th or 17th due to a brisk NW wind. On the 13th and 14th our guests enjoyed kinder seas
and good catches of blackcod. The onshore movement of silvers, pinks, and chums
seems to have hit a hiccup. We’re hoping for a big push any day.
