What a difference a day (or two) makes. Our long wait for silvers appears to be ending. On
Friday the 19th we saw a near limit of 22 silvers on Shearwater with Captain Jack Barnick. That
was the highest score. The influx of silvers brought a huge sigh of relief for AU’s captains and a
big shout of excitement for our guests. Adding to the fun, the king action broke wide open on
Friday. The spotty pattern of kings confined to spot specific locations ended with kings
seemingly everywhere in large numbers including a 40-pounder caught by Warren Konze about
Petrel with Captain DJ Gross. We finally seeing Sitka in typical mid-July form.

Bottom fishing remains highly dependable with regular landings of GAF halibut (see link) up to
65 inches (140 pounds) in the past few days. Rockfish continue to create fast and exciting
action. The weather has gone from stormy to flat calm. Happy days are here.

That capt. Jack on Shearwater is some commander. He was amazing when we fished with him as he was always putting us on fish, giving us specific knowledge on technique, and cheering us on as we successfully managed the fishing. What a crew with Jack and Griff as first mate, a man who works hard and knows exactly what he is doing. I recommend this crew for anyone who wants to learn and catch fish.
