King and halibut catches have been solid over the past week despite unusually cold, wet, and, at times, windy weather. We’ve found kings in a variety of locations, mainly on the open ocean but sometimes in more protected areas. The halibut are an open ocean show. Additionally, our guests have enjoyed good catches of blackcod and Pacific cod in deep water as well as the usual rockfish fun in the shallows. We’ve even brought in a couple of coho (silvers), not a common occurrence for the month of May. We are seeing large amounts of baitfish, some whales, and lots of birds – all harbingers of good things to come.
