Sitka is firing on all cylinders the past week with large schools of kings generating daily limits spiced with multiple hook-ups. You just can’t beat the excitement of the controlled chaos generated with two, three, or even four kings on at the same time. The size of the kings improved this week with a fair number of fish well over 20 pounds including a 31-pounder landed by long time AU guest and friend Jim McLendon while fishing with Captain Chuck. The offshore fishing for halibut, pacific cod and blackcod continues to pay big dividends. Our guests are enjoying limit or near limit catches of blackcod and daily limits of halibut. Pacific cod don’t have a daily bag limit and historically we don’t catch many, but this year we are seeing a big jump in numbers and size. Deep-water fishing is very active and productive, so get ready to do lots of cranking.

The weather the past week has been “doable” every day and nice most. We’ve had a few nearly perfect flat calm days mixed with a few choppy ones but nothing even close to stormy.
